Thailand Government Formally Unveils MIKOH based EVR Solution

Global securities solutions provider, MIKOH Corporation Limited (ASX Code: MIK), today announced the successful completion of the Thailand government’s inaugural media event for the country’s Electronic Vehicle Registration system. The event was held July 21st 2010 at a key Bangkok the Department of Land Transportation (DLT) office. Representatives from the Thai government, Somapa Information Technology Company (local system integrator), Konlakorn (government ten-year concession holder), MIKOH, Federal Signal [NYSE: FSS] (MIKOH’s reader and camera partner) were all present. The system has been named “SmartRFID” by the government and Mikoh’s RFID tamper evident tag demonstration at the launch performed flawlessly.
The Director of the Thailand Department of Land Transportation (DLT) formally introduced the planned Electronic Vehicle Registration system to the media. Dignitaries and the various media got to experience a live demonstration with vehicles and a motorcycle passing through a reader infrastructure set up at one of the main DLT offices in Bangkok. A tour of the registration offices was conducted with demonstrations of the registration process using live tags and readers with media questions and answers. Media kits, which included MIKOH branding, were presented to attending media and included the actual MIKOH “SmartRFID” branded tags to be used on vehicles in Thailand.
The event, which was organized by the Thai Government and Somapa, was very well attended with over 40 media outlets present. Feedback was positive and subsequent media coverage further conveyed the extent to which physical security is critical for the solution. Interviews with Somapa’s Managing Director were shown on Thai television immediately after the event.
This event signifies the first public role-out of the SMartRFID system and the benefits that the system generates for motorists in Thailand. SmartRFID tags will be available to motorists from August 11, with rollout to other Bangkok DLT registration locations to be completed during September 2010.
