Solution Boosts Tamper Evidence and Patient Safety for Healthcare Applications

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 6, 2008 – MIKOH Corporation (MIK.AX) today unveiled Smart&Secure Healthcare, a new solution leveraging MIKOH’s tamper-evident Smart&Secure technology to deliver chain of custody and physical security certainty in the healthcare industry.

Chain of custody and physical security are imperative in healthcare, an industry that cannot afford mistakes. Medical professionals must know if tampering or contamination occurs, especially with sensitive diagnostic machines and sterile equipment like surgical utensils and burn kits. In addition, delicate organ and tissue transplants and blood supplies must remain uncompromised in transit. Smart&Secure Healthcare provides certainty across healthcare market applications.

With Smart&Secure Healthcare, medical professionals can easily recognize if tampering occurs through the use of MIKOH Smart&Secure RFID seals. The solution creates a tamper-evident seal that disables RFID functionality if compromised. A more advanced version alerts an RFID reader if the tag has been compromised without disabling RFID functionality, enabling ongoing retrieval of data stored on the tag.

In addition, the company recently announced a partnership with Pelican Products, which combines MIKOH’s tamper-evident seals with the company’s rugged containers and cases.
